The world’s top polka dancers deliver high energy moves at the Schauer Center on Saturday, October 17. Laden with talent, Dancing with Polka Stars makes a great addition to WTKM’s Oktoberfest weekend. From traditional to country, and romantic to theatrical, the 3:00 pm performance has something for everyone.
Dancing with Polka Stars showcases 12 extraordinary, semi-professional ballroom dancers who were raised on polka music. The newly expanded performance goes beyond the polka arena to include ballroom, swing, salsa, Lindy Hop, and more. The fresh combination of polka and ballroom re-acquaints long time fans with great music and exuberant dancers, but also introduces newcomers to something they haven’t heard or seen on stage before.
Dances will be performed to Polish polka recordings from The Polish Kid, Polka Family Band, and Charm City Sound. In addition, live musical entertainment is provided by Wisconsin Polka Hall of Famers Neal Zunker & the Music Connection. Playing a mix of polkas, waltzes, and big band, their showmanship is truly entertaining. Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame member Gary Brueggen of WTMB 94.5 FM out of Tomah and Scott Lopas of Hartford’s WTKM 104.9 FM will emcee.
Following the performance, adults ages 21 and older are invited to celebrate German tradition with Hartford Rotary’s Flavors of Deutschland at 5:00 pm. Sample the finest brews and hors d’oeuvres for just $25 per person; Price includes a specialty beer glass to take home. Proceeds benefit Hartford Rotary Club.
