Irene G. Schuett, of Watertown, formerly a long-time Hustisford resident, passed away Monday, October 19, at the age of 81 years, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born January 16, 1928, in Watertown, the daughter of Emil and Mabel (nee Genrich) Polzin. She married Marvin on June 5, 1948 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lebanon. Irene devoted her life to being a good mom and wife, raising her children, and making a good, loving home for her children and husband, a place where her children always knew she would be there caring for them. She loved to garden, flowers and vegetables, and canned what she grew. She enjoyed embroidery and knitting, and in her spare time enjoyed playing sheepshead and other card games. After moving to Hustisford, Irene joined Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, and became a long-time member. She was very active in church activities and sang in the choir for many years. When the children got a little older, she helped at the polling places during elections. She was very civic-minded and wanted to help her community. But most of all, Irene will be remembered by her children as a kind and wonderful, loving Mom.

Irene is survived by husband Marvin of Watertown and her children, Sandra (Philip) Sussek of Marshall, Gary Schuett of Ohio, Neal Schuett of Watertown, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Friday, October 23, at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church from 11am -1pm. Funeral service will be at 1pm at Church. Rev. Timothy Bauer will officiate. Interment Hustisford Cemetery. Memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home - Hustisford is serving the family.
