BELATED WELCOME

Although this is a wee bit late, it is never too late to say welcome; and the Addison Elementary School would like residents, staff and students (if they have not already done so) to please send a warm welcome to: Mrs. Kate Steedman, their new music teacher; and to Mrs. Shirley Neu, their primary grades aide.

ALLENTON SCRIP

This is a PTO sponsored activity to raise money for Allenton School to purchase gift cards and certificates for goods and services that folks purchase on a regular basis. Each retailer donates a percentage of the receipts directly to the school.

Anyone who eats at McDonalds, shops at Menards or goes to Piggly Wiggly–these folks will take advantage of the SCRIP program and thus benefit the school simultaneously. Residents are asked to watch for the SCRIP order form, which has been sent home with students.

SPORTS BREAK:

FOOTBALL SUMMARIES

When a team digs itself into a sufficient hole at the beginning of the game, sometimes it’s hard, if not impossible–don’t ever use the word “impossible” if the coach is within hearing distance–to come back and win.

This is precisely what happened on Saturday, Sept. 26, when Living Word Lutheran outscored Wayland Academy 14-6 in the second quarter, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a 28-point deficit as the Wayland Academy Timber Wolves lost, 41-21.

Living Word managed to get on the board in the second quarter with a 3-yard pass play from Ben Rennicke to Jesse Welter; Rennicke then with Jake Wunder on a third quarter 16-yard pass; Wunder did a fourth quarter scoring trick on a 14-yard run.

Living Word Lutheran is having a bad year in the standings, posting a 1-4 overall record and is 0-3 in the Midwest Classic Conference North Division.

Slinger 9 West Bend West 3 – This is a overtime/sudden death thriller for the Slinger Owls’ Alex Burkel who did a 1-yard dash to pay dirt to lift the Owls over the West Bend West Spartans. In the Wisconsin Little Ten Conference, Slinger is now in third (2-1 record) and is 3-2 overall. The Spartans hold down fourth place with a 2-1 Conference record and is 3-2 overall.

Wisconsin Lutheran 28, Hartford Orioles, 10 – Wisconsin Lutheran seems to give the Orioles all they can handle. This is Hartford’s first loss of the season. It initially looked good for Hartford, scoring first on Joseph Glynn’s 85-yard kickoff return. Wisconsin answered with two touchdowns of its own, making the score, 14-7, Wisconsin. In the second half, Nick Malinowski booted a 22-yard field goal, 14-10, Wisconsin. The Lutherans with two touchdowns of their own, 28-10, Wisconsin. And that is how the game ended.
