Lindsay Horst of Rubicon was selected to play the French Horn with the National FFA Band at its annual convention at Conseco Field House in Indianapolis October 21-24. National FFA Band members are nominated by their state associations and were chosen from a pool of more than 130 applications. Lindsay, who is a member of the Hartford FFA Chapter, submitted an audition tape and was one of 85 members from throughout the United States selected to help bring full instrumental balance to the band.

The band performed several times at the 82nd National FFA Convention to a crowd of more than 54,000, adding excitement and motivation to the sessions thru their music. The young musicians met in Indianapolis only three days prior to the start of convention to rehearse and prepare.

Lindsay is a junior at Hartford Union High School and is a third year member of the Hartford FFA Chapter. She is the daughter of Michael and Leslie Horst. The chapter advisors are Randy Ehrenberg and Mike Hennes.
