Robert “Bob” C. Shebuski
Robert “Bob” C. Shebuski, 77 years, of Hubertus, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009, at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls.
Bob was born January 7, 1932 in Antigo to Stanley and Clara (nee Draeger) Shebuski. He was united in marriage to Jean DeLong on June 15, 1953 in Clawson, Michigan.
Robert, or as he preferred, Bob, spent most of his childhood in the small town of Antigo, Wisconsin. Growing up with his ten brothers and sisters he learned at an early age the importance of family, faith and hard work. As a child Bob had a very creative character, with interest in photography, music, and a love for the sporting life. When he was 13 his family moved to the small logging community of Dunkin, located in the upper peninsula of Michigan. He was an accomplished high school basketball player, being named to the Copper Country All Conference Basketball Team. His skill on the basketball court earned him a scholarship to the University of Michigan were he pursued a career in Architecture. During his first year at UM he met the love of his life, Jean DeLong. They were married in June of 1953 in Clawson, Michigan. Bob was drafted by the Army and served his country as an artillery sergeant at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Jean and Bob started their life together at Fort Sill where they had their first of six children.
After military service Bob returned home to Upper Michigan. He changed his career path and in 1958 received a Mechanical Engineering degree with honors from Michigan Tech University in Houghton Hancock. In 1959 Bob was hired by Outboard Marine Corporation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the inventor of many patents and received several promotions before his retirement in 2000.
Bob’s interest and hobbies are a testament to his remarkable life. He was passionate about hunting, fishing and training his hunting dogs. His love of wood working will be remembered forever by the many items he made for his family and friends. A boat, duck decoys and furniture were among the many things he crafted. While working at OMC Bob earned his private pilots license and refurbished 2 airplanes. Gardening, cooking and wine-making were hobbies that he loved seeing other people enjoy. Of all the interest and hobbies in his life, Bob’s family was always his first priority. His children and grandchildren were there helping with his many projects. We are all better people for our time spent by his side watching, learning and playing.
We love you and miss you Dad.
